Introducing WMATA NEW MetroExtra Limited Stop Route 59 for the 14th St Line one of the busiest Metrobus corridors in the system that was in need of a limited stop MetroExtra route. The 59 was proposal back in 2012 and 6 years later received funding for the DC govt to implement the route.
* The Route 59 operates peak hour service to/from Federal Triangle and Takoma Station operating every 15 mins.
* In the near future there plans to implement potential midday and weekend service for the Route 59 if needed just like other MetroExtra routes such as the 79 and S9.
* Plus hopefully we can see Bus only lanes, Transit Signal Priority, and Off board payment in the future to help speed up buses on 14th St corridor.
* In other news in June of this MetroExtra Route X9 will finally get midday service to operate every 20 mins after 8 years since it been implemented. After getting funding and approved by the Metro Board.
* First impression on the Route 59 I like it a quick and faster way to travel up and down 14th St always like plans to expand and implement more MetroExtra service in our region.
